Easter, Easter, Easter

I don't know how the weekend past us and we some how forgot to dye Easter eggs. Bummer! I guess it was too jam packed with hunts, and other festivities. It started off with an egg hunt Saturday night at G&G Dunkley's house with cousin Ellie, and baby 2nd cousin Allie. It was so cute to watch. Kenzie was on a mission for sure. After watching her dominate the hunt, I decided the practice hunt Saturday morning was not needed. After the hunt we had a delicious dinner. Aunt Marilyn brought a Honey Baked Ham, Mom made cupcakes, potato salad, and rolls, Kim brought fruit, and I brought a pasta salad. Easter has never tasted so good! Not too mention all the left over candy that didn't make it into the eggs for the kids. Grandpa gave all the girls a cute Easter egg with a baby stuffed animal Chick inside. Grandma gave Ellie and McKenzie a cute skort, shirt, and shoes, and of course the awesome egg hunt!

Sunday was great. We got to sleep in (a little) and Kenzie woke up to this basket full of joy:

Gotta love the dollar store, I do anyways! We can't wait to take her out and show her how a kite works!

Todd and I both had lessons to teach during church, and also got to say the prayers in sacrament meeting. I was hoping I could be one of the ones sitting back relaxing and getting the most out of the lesson on Easter Sunday. Oh well. Instead my primary classes was extra hellish and almost brought me to tears. Almost. How is it that little people, aka 5 year olds, can be so mean to each other, and get under my skin so easily!? For now, I guess I get my personal gain out of preparing and studying the lessons during the week. Don't get me wrong I love primary I've been there for 5 years...it was just one of those days. I mean what do you say when the response to "Please be quiet, so we can learn about Jesus." is (hands covering the ears) "I'm not listening, and I don't care about Jesus." Just ONE example of my day yesterday.

On the plus side McKenzie was somewhat manageable during sacrament meeting so I got a little something out that. Plus she looked adorable in her Easter dress.

After laying in bed for a minute, McKenzie not taking a nap, and forgetting we were in charge of dessert for dinner at G&G Campbell's (an hour before we were supposed to be there), it was off to attacking those problems. We made it though! It was a whirlwind day but the relaxing finally got to catch up with us. We had a delicious dinner compliments of Grandma Campbell! Then it was time for Easter egg hunt #2 for McKenzie and cousin Haley. The older cousins were so nice to hide all the eggs for the little ones!

After we all watched the Amazing race and played cards until 11 O'clock.
Although it seems our Easter was packed full of commercial Easter traditions, which it was, it didn't pass us by without us being grateful for all our Savior sacrificed for us. What a wonderful time of year it is, and I hope that all of us can keep a reminder in our hearts of how blessed we are. That we can all actively participate in, and take advantage of the gifts He left us with. May we all strive to be like Him, follow his example, repent, and live our lives like He did.
